Remington Middle School consists of grades five through eight and averages about 150 students per year. In the 2007-2008 school year, RMS opened it's door to a major renovation and several new classrooms. The school is located in Whitewater at 316 East Topeka street. RMS has been under the current grade configuration since the 2003-2004 school year. Prior to the 03-04 school year, RMS consisted of grades six through eight and also housed half of the district's Kindergarten through 2nd grade. Up until the early 1990's, it was known as Whitewater Grade School and grades Kindergarten through eight attended.
Remington Middle School is a school with pride. Since the 2006-2007 school year, RMS has achieved the Standard of Excellence on the State of Kansas Assessments in the areas of math and reading. Our students and staff have worked hard to achieve that status. There is an obvious commitment to do well academically at RMS. Fifty to sixty percent of our students are on the school's honor roll each nine weeks. Changes have been made throughout the years in the class schedules in order that students are successful.
Remington MS is a proud member of the Heart of America junior high/middle school league since the fall of 2000. Seventh and eighth grade student are able to participate in the following programs: Cross country, Volleyball, Football, Basketball, Wrestling, and Track. RMS also participates in the HOA in the areas of Quiz Bowl, Vocal Music, and Band. We also have a student council which has representatives from all four grades.
