K-196 Bridge Replacement Approaching

posted Jan 27, 2017, 8:41 AM by Ellen Spencer   [ updated Feb 28, 2017, 7:00 AM by Linette Koranda ]

The Kansas Department of Transportation has announced their plan to replace three bridges on K-196 west of Potwin. This will lead to the closure of K-196 between Potwin and the Haw Ranch Feedlot. Construction is scheduled to begin on February 27, 2017, completion is currently slated for November of 2017.

With K-196 as the main artery for traffic between our elementary, middle and high school, district transportation services will be directly impacted. If your child is on a bus route or rides a shuttle from one building to another, you will need to plan on pick-up and drop-off times changing by approximately 15 minutes respectively. With our shuttle system between towns and school buildings we will need this extra time for buses to maneuver the detour.

Butler County Engineers are working with KDOT to prepare the following detour; eastbound traffic will take K-196 to Meadowlark south to 50th, turn east on 50th to Diamond Road then travel north to Potwin. Westbound traffic would simply reverse these driving instructions.
